Still in Stitches is the embroidery division of The Fabric Nerd.
In addition to creating hand-embroidered pieces, Li (The Fabric Nerd) also runs embroidery workshops and is working on establishing community outreach programmes which teach embroidery to communities in need.
Embroidery has been done for hundreds of years and embroiderers are found across all classes, ages, and cultures. It is an occupational therapy that was even used to treat shellshocked and injured soldiers during WW1. It's known to reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and foster strong social bonds.
Embroidery is convenient, portable, can be done anywhere. It requires only a lap, your own two hands, and minimal equipment. Alongside the developing physical skill and dexterity, it incorporates colour therapy through the colourful embroidery thread that's used.
And, of course, it's so fun and rewarding.
